William Blankenship Obituary
Bill grew up in Dayton, Ohio and after high school, joined the Navy and served as a Sonarman on the minesweeper U.S.S. Salute from 1958 to 1962, serving primarily in the Mediterranean. After his service in the Navy, he moved to Atlanta, Georgia where he married the love of his life Fredda "Jo" Todd of Toccoa, Georgia. He was soon employed as an Engineering Associate at AT&T where he worked for twenty eight years retiring at the age of 49. After retirement, Bill & Jo enjoyed spending time with their children and grandchildren, traveling with their dear friends Michael & Wylene Daniel, taking trips to the Varsity with his brother Richard, and tending to their vegetable and flower gardens.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Fredda Jo Todd Blankenship; sisters, Judy Blankenship and JoAnn Stone.
He is survived by his children, Michael Thomas (Valerie) Blankenship of Cartersville, David Scott (Kelli) Blankenship of Villa Rica, and Amy Blankenship Baker of Canton; grandchildren, Avery (Sam) Ivey, Alex Baker, Asa Baker, and Tandy Blankenship; two great-grandsons, Everett and Beckett; brother, Richard (Marlese) Blankenship of Miami Township, Ohio; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 22, 2024 from 3:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home Villa Rica. Memorial services will be conducted on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at 4:00 PM from the Villa Rica Chapel at Jones-Wynn with Kelli Watson Blankenship officiating.
